On-The-Job Training

Last Tuesday, my right wrist got burned while I was putting a pan of brownies inside an oven. I thought it was okay to wash my wrist with water at once since it was really hot and painful. Employees in the kitchen told me I should not have done that. They said I should have put toothpaste instead of pouring water over my wrist.

They were right. The affected area became swollen. It was also got bloated. I was feeling alright the following days till Friday came. I woke up with a fever. I was nervous at first because I thought I had a fever because of the burn in my wrist. I texted my friend and schoolmate to inform the place where I was doing my OJT that I cannot work that day because of a fever. The same day, my friend texted me that I should go and look for another place to do my ojt since the chef fired me already for being unprofessional. Grr who gets fired while doing an ojt? And besides I had a valid reason! I wanted to verify as soon as possible whether or not the head chef really said that. However my friend refused to give me the head chef's mobile number.

The following day, I went to the hospital to have my burn treated. I got a shot of anti-tetanus and the doctor also cleaned my burn. The next day I tried to contact the head chef again. Unfortunately, he was out with some of the crew because they were catering for a certain event. Then came monday, I was ready to meet him face-to-face, I just forced myself to since I really had no idea if he was still gonna accept me and my excuse. My friend did not cooperate that well, he even lectured me. He thought I was just making up stories about my absence.

I was a bit scared when I saw the head chef, I did not talk to him at once. When he finally noticed my presence, he asked an employee to inform me to put on my uniform at once and to start work. I was relieved, I thought I was out.
