I went to the hospital to have my burned wrist checked last Saturday because I noticed that there was pus on it and it's like it wasn't healing at all. My girlfriend accompanied me to the hospital near the place where she was staying. The doctor she was familiar with wasn't there so we had to go to the Emergency Room (ER) to look for a doctor. After several minutes of waiting, a doctor finally approached us. He asked for some info about me and then continued with the treatment. He cleaned my burn and then asked us to buy a syringe and an anti-tetanus thingy. My gf volunteered to buy the items so I was left in hospital talking to the doctor. I asked if it was okay that I poured water over my burn and if the anti-tetanus shot would still have an effect even though I got the burn 3 or 4 days ago. He said yes to both questions. I also asked him if I can eat anything and he said it's okay, there's no restrictions when it comes to eating food. I thought he would say I'm forbidden to eat fish or bagoong (shrimp paste) and that I had to keep my burn or wound from getting wet. What a weird advice to get from a doctor.
Here are some photos of my wrist:
That's a nasty looking burn. I got a burn like that once on my shoulder from a light bulb -- burned all the way down to the white meat. I put some antibacterial ointment on it, bandaged it, and refused to go to the hospital.
ReplyDeleteThey let you administer your own injections? Here they do it for you. I guess too many junkies and stuff to let you go buying your own syringes.
No, it was still the nurse who injected me. My girlfriend just did not want to buy the syringe and the anti-tetanus thingy in the hospital because it was cheaper outside. She looked for a drugstore near the hospital and got the items... half the price! Hospitals really charge high, ^_^
