World's oldest man

Japanese world's oldest man

A 113-year-old Japanese man became the oldest man in the world when the previous record holder died in the United States on Thursday.

The Gerontology Research Group in the United States listed Japan's Jiroemon Kimura as the oldest man in the world after Walter Breuning died at the age of 114 in the western state of Montana.

Breuning reportedly died of natural causes after being hospitalized earlier this month for an illness.

He had lived in a home for senior citizens for 30 years.

He made it a habit to eat two meals a day to maintain good health.

Kimura was born in 1897 and lives in Kyoto.

He once worked at a post office and later made his living by farming.

Kimura says the secret to longevity is to leave everything to heaven. He says he feels grateful that he can be well every day because of the care offered by people around him.
