Teaching English to my cousin

My cousin is sixteen years but is still somehow childish. Maybe, this is because of the fact that she was only able to finish elementary. She took the A&E test from DepEd and passed. The only problem now is she thinks she is still not ready for college since her knowledge is limited. She does not know how to speak and understand English that well. If the subject is Science or Math, there is no way she will be able to answer because the question will always be English, not Tagalog. I volunteered to help her but I found it hard to teach her. She is a girl full of imagination. She usually daydreams and always talks about Richard Gutierrez. When we are studying, she would usually interrupt me with "chikas" or incidents involving Richard Gutierrez. I tried to be patient with her. I just laugh when she does that. But there came a time I felt that I've had enough. I told her not to do that anymore because I felt that she is not talking it seriously. We started the tutorial with different parts of speech. While teaching her I found out something. Her level of understanding is way far from the average. All she does is memorize. I asked her what an adverb is and she was able to answer. But when I asked her to give me some examples, she crumbled. I gave her an example to give her an idea but she still could not answer. I asked her if the word very is an adverb and guess what she said to me. She simply answered, "pwede". Blood rushed from body to my head, I was shocked. My question was very simple. Who the hell would answer like that? I stopped from training her, I am still thinking of other ways to teach her English. She also once wrote the prayer Hail Mary like this, "Hail Mary, Fool of Grace, The Lord is with thee. We were all laughing our hearts out that time.
